And so it begins…. Halloween kicks off the mad dash to the end of the year. Think it’s all in your head? Nope. According to the American Psychological Association 38 percent of people say their stress increases this time of year, and more than 50 percent say they experience irritability and fatigue as well. So let’s get a grip on the craziness this year. Here are four ways to keep stress to a minimum this holiday season.

Let’s start with the food. Like it or not, holiday parties are often centered around what to eat. So give it some thought before you have to face a table full of tempting treats. LIMIT SUGAR INTAKE: Sugar is the biggest toxin. It can deplete your immune system, cause you to feel lethargic and even takes a toll on how you look! It’s also a big culprit for all those extra pounds people are known to put on at the holidays. You can eat healthy, easy and delicious without mounds of sugar. I have several go to recipes to prove it! Brownies, pumpkin pie cupcakes, pumpkin chocolate chip muffins even 3 ingredient whipped cream and fudge!
Don’t stress out over getting ready for all those holiday parties. GO FOR A NATURAL GLOW: Now is not the time to try expensive beauty products. There are plenty of other ways to spend your money this time of year. But we all want to look our best at all those get togethers right? Here’s my secret weapon: an ALL NATURAL jar of coconut oil! I love when I can use ONE thing that I know I always have on hand for multiple purposes…for example: it’s an eye maker remover, moisturizer, natural lip balm, great for you hair and even helps with puffiness under the eyes. The best part, is it should be a staple for cooking and baking..so this is something that will be a wonderful holiday non-toxic addition to your beauty regimen.
KEEP YOUR HOME GERM FREE. A house full of people coughing with runny noses is enough to stress anyone out. With visitors coming and going and major viruses going around, make sure you clean effectively to reduce your chances of getting or spreading germs. However, we also want to make sure we are using Non-Toxic cleaners in case of any sensitivities. It is also so much better for the environment. I visited someone last year that used a laundry detergent full of toxic chemicals and my entire skin broke out in a rash. There are so many great non-toxic cleaners on the market today. I found Get Clean on Oprah’s favorite and I have been hooked ever since!!! Even the white house uses it. My Pinterest page also has some DIY formulas too you might want to check out…
KEEP MOVING. Exercise is a great way to reduce your stress. Crazy week preparing for guests? Make time for yoga. Sitting around all afternoon with family and friends after a big meal? Get up and take a walk. I know there are the times there is so much to do it just doesn’t seem to make sense to stop and hit a workout class but those are likely the moments you need that release the most. If you really can’t get out of the house try Burn TV. It is Burn Boot Camps YouTube channel and there are tons of great workout videos. You can get a great workout in your kitchen in just 3 minutes.
Remember to be totally healthy you need to focus on 4 areas: nutrition, beauty, home and stress. But KEEP IT ALL IN PERSPECTIVE! Take deep breaths.. enjoy the moments. If something doesn’t go right, it’s not the end of the world. Hold on to that attitude and you’ll hold on to a stress free holiday.
