Speaker 1: Are you making yourself look older than you are? Good Housekeeping recently published a list of things that can age you, and you might find it a little bit surprising.
Speaker 2: One: Drinking through a straw. Repeatedly pressing your lips can cause wrinkling around your mouth. Did you know that?
Speaker 1: No.
Speaker 2: Forgetting sunscreen in the car, and don’t forget to focus on your arms if you hang your arm out the window. Sunscreen, very important, and tugging on the thin skin around your eye area when you either take off your makeup or put in contact lenses.
Speaker 1: I often do that when I’m putting on my makeup. And then there’s another one we can’t forget. It’s the food we eat. When it comes to aging you, you really are what you eat. There are 3 kinds of foods that get an “F” for making us age fast.

Speaker 2: Fine, thank you! Some foods really do age us is what you say?
Brooke: Yes, absolutely. There’s 3 types of foods that absolutely will fail us in our aging, so I brought the most flunky foods today.
Speaker 2: Okay, the flunkiest.
Brooke: Yes, the flunkiest possible. They’re easy to remember because they all start with “F:” fast, fried, and fake foods. If we can just ditch these 3 categories, I promise you will look younger and you’ll feel younger. Let’s talk about fast first, and also, they can all kind of go together. Fast can be fried and fake. Sometimes they all go together.
Hamburger, french fries, and fried chicken. Very high in trans fat, and trans fat can not only clog our pores but clog our arteries, can lead to heart disease. It actually ages us from the inside out, but also clogging our pores and our skin kind of gets tight and wrinkly, and so we just want to get rid of that. That doesn’t look very appealing to the eye anyway. It’s dark in color, not bright-
Speaker 2: I kind of think it looks a little bit good.
Speaker 1: I have to admit I was eyeing that chicken. [crosstalk 01:58]
Speaker 2: Definite will make you feel better too when you stop eating so much of that.
Brooke: As far as fake too, remember … My brother in his wellness office has had the same hamburger and french fries in his office for 3 years, not a bug or anything has come near it. It hasn’t molded. Talk about fake, fried and fast.
Speaker 1: What do consider fake?
Brooke: Fake, so food that don’t bring life to your cells and your body. Foods that are not nourishing. Foods that are not real. When you talk about maybe hot dogs and deli meats, the ones that are full of nitrates and toxins and again it can clog your pores. It can cause even things like rosacea. Really cause us to look and feel older. The other things are candy and sports drink and soda. Sports drink and soda, full of sugar. Pro-inflammatory and it can cause the enamel in our teeth to go away and just look yellow and just old. We want to get rid of those.
Speaker 2: Let’s talk about what we should be eating then.
Brooke: Yes. What we need to do is first, drink more water. We should be drinking half our body weight in ounces every day. Water is the easiest thing that we can do to make our skin look better, make us feel better. You can doctor it up with citrus and blueberries and mint leaves. You can really doctor up your water so you don’t have to use those other choices. You also want to make sure you’re using a purified water. The next thing is coconut oil. Coconut oil to me is the most magical product on the market. Finally scientists and doctors and saying that good fat is the number one nutrient missing. Brooke: Yes. I love that it’s organic. If you’re looking for products out there, we are hit everyday as women from the anti-aging market. I get sucked in, because I have those little … I pull the skin with the contacts everyday. I just see these wrinkles popping up and baggy skin. What I find, they over-promise things and then I go and look at the ingredients and they’re filled with chemicals and they’re filled with scary ingredients I don’t want to put on my skin.
