Eczema can be such a stressful and painful condition. I feel that a lot of moms in my area are struggling to find relief for their children. Because eczema is essentially an immune system issue, eczema often occurs hand-in-hand with asthma, allergies, and other respiratory issues. So, if you treat your immune system and build it up, you will see a dramatic change in other areas of your health as well.
A little more about Eczema:
Atopic eczema is due to a hypersensitivity reaction (similar to an allergy) in the skin, which leads to long-term inflammation of the skin.
Eczema is most common in infants. Many people outgrow it by early adulthood. The condition tends to run in families.
People with eczema often have asthma or hay fever, too. There is often a family history of allergic conditions such as asthma, hay fever, or eczema.
The following can make eczema symptoms worse:
- Allergies to pollen, mold, dust mites, or animals
- Colds or the flu
- Contact with rough materials
- Dry skin
- Exposure to environmental irritants
- Exposure to water
- Feeling too hot or too cold
- Fragrances or dyes added to skin lotions or soaps
- Stress
We have an amazing resource in our friend Stan Pallium who shares with us his “plans” for Shaklee supplements. Stan has been in the Shaklee business for over 30 years. He has hundreds of testimonies of people who have gained freedom from their ailments. Here are some tips, supplements, and testimonies he has shared with me for you to consider.
Eczema Tips and Supplements:
Eczema is another expression of an imbalanced immune system, probably in most cases having its roots in allowing yourself to be vaccinated or being given antibiotics or other immune system damaging things. (This is one more very important reason to never be tricked into getting a “flu shot” or any other kind of vaccination — they cause complete havoc to your immune system, of which eczema is just one expression.)
It can also certainly be brought on or at least greatly exacerbated by contact with toxic (i.e., immune system challenging) chemicals in the home — bed sheets and clothes washed in conventional laundry detergents, Lysol spray residue in the air, etc.
Because it is essentially an immune system issue, eczema often occurs hand-in-hand with asthma, allergies, and other respiratory issues.
So if it were me, I would attack this problem aggressively from 3 different directions simultaneously:
1. I would absolutely eliminate contact and exposure to toxic chemicals in the home. I would box up all cleaners, bug sprays, air “fresheners,” etc., and remove them immediate. And I would replace everything with Get Clean and I would re-wash all bed sheets, clothes, towels, etc. that I might have contact with.
I would also cancel any home extermination contracts or lawn-treatment contracts. (People who have their lawns treated with pesticides have 2-4 times — especially in children — the occurrence of leukemia as those who don’t.)
2. I would make sure I was on a good foundational nutrition program that covers the broad spectrum of necessary nutrients plus additional immune system boosting support — i.e., Shaklee protein, some form of Vita-Lea, with lots of extra vitamin C (minimum of 6-10 SR Vita-C per day), Optiflora, and Formula I (minimum of 3 two or three times a day) — absolutely do not leave out the Formula I.
3. Eczema needs lots of essential fatty acids to rebuild the health of the skin — Lecithin, Omega, and GLA — all three are important and used together will provide best results. I would immediately begin a regimen of 9 Lecithin, 6 OmegaGuard, and at least 3 GLA per day — that would be 3 Lecithin, 2 OmegaGuard, and 1 GLA three times a day. If I didn’t see the beginnings of improvement within 5 days, I’d double the GLA to 6 per day.
I’d continue at this level until my skin was greatly improved or even clear. Then, keeping the same ratio, cut the regimen back to twice per day, and then eventually to once per day as a maintenance.
Additionally, avoid hot water. Hot water will greatly aggravate eczema. So, I’d wash hands with cool water and take lukewarm, not hot, showers.

Child Testimony of Eczema and Asthma cured by Shaklee
I struggled with my 4 year old daughter with eczema, asthma, and allergies from the first few months of her life.
We had done all the blood testing , computer testing, prick testing — and everytime we had to put down $900 -$1,000 for each test. All they told me was to keep away from the foods she had been found to be allergic to — which was everything. The only foods she could eat were turkey, apples, and cucumbers. My poor little girl itched a lot and lived on a nebulizer for her asthma – it was her companion wherever we traveled.
My last stop before being introduced to Shaklee was a Chiropractor. He gave me an acidophilus product, and it worked wonders. BUT after 5 months of her being clear and under control, the acidophilus was taken off the market. An independent lab did a testing on that “all natural acidophilus ” and found cortisone in it!!!!! I was so upset.
Then Shaklee — a company with integrity — came into my life.
Doing my friend a favor and attending a Shaklee skin care demo, I asked the distributor if she could help me with my child. My first concern was — Are these products tested by Independent labs? I was so relieved to hear about their 80 published clinicals, in peer reviewed, medical journals. I got hopeful!
My friend enrolled me on the 21 Tape Program, and I was amazed at the integrity of the company. And in my second month of using Shaklee for my family and seeing the incredible results, I couldn’t stop talking about Shaklee.
My nightmare for my child was over. Her skin was beautiful and I had learned so much information from the tapes and booklets that I decided my community needed to hear about Shaklee and how it could change their lives.
My daughter’s skin which had looked like raw meat cleared up with me crushing 2 times a day:
(In many eczema cases GLA, EPA, and Lecithin MUST be added especially for adults who have struggled with it for years)
It took patience and understanding on my part, and learning, that I’m building her immune system. That helped me, to be disciplined in all the crushing and feeding the nutrients to my daughter.
Only 4 months later we were able to put away the nebulizer and start introducing foods like the basics with out her reacting. Today 4 years later she is allergy free and can enjoy the winter without having asthma attacks everytime she steps out into the cold. Now I am helping other moms and children. I am passing on the gift that was given to me.

Adult Eczema Testimony
I have always had skin issues since I was a child – warts, acne, sensitive skin all over (especially shaved legs), and long-time eczema. I know now that nutrition and good supplementation play a huge role in the health of my skin. Everyone’s different, but for me, anything that was not going right on the inside, came out in my skin.
I had eczema that covered my hands – noted with frequent slits in my skin (which would get frequently infected), terrible itching, and very swollen hands/fingers. This was hard for me and my busy life since I have three young children and I am ALWAYS washing my hands. Regular soaps and liquid soaps just sent me into pain – since I was putting soap on open wounds many times. I had been to several dermatologists. Each one recommended a steroid cream for me to apply and each one said not to use it for very long since it was a steroid. This went on for over five years (this happened before I was introduced to Shaklee products)- I was moving a lot and I kept using the cream because it was the only temporary solution I could find for relief. I did wonder why no one was trying to “get” to the cause of my problem – I was always just treating the symptoms.
Two years ago, I became a Shaklee consumer and began using the supplements with great benefits within the areas of energy, immunity, and overall health. I checked into nutrients that I could take for my eczema and here is what Barb Lagoni recommended for me:
Beta Carotene: 1/day Now it would be CarotoMax
I did this regimen for about seven months and noticed some benefit which went along with what Barb had said – She said that skin issues take a longer time to heal since their are so many layers of skin cells to be repaired.
The one part that was frustrating me was that I couldn’t find a nutrient to “take the itch out” for my eczema. I knew that I wouldn’t irritate my condition as much if I just could stop itching. That’s when I discovered taking 15 or so Alfalfa did take the itch out! Alfalfa is a natural antihistamine, which is what doctors prescribe when someone has a rash and the like. I was overjoyed!!!!!!!!!! After using the above program for about a year, I was able to take a few less vitamins. Here is my program today:
Vita C SR: 1/day (in the winter season, I take more/day)
CarotoMax: 1/every two or three days
I know that this program has worked for me. I occasionally have flare ups, but it is probably only once every five months or so and it usually occurs soon after I have eaten a really salty meal. I take other nutrients to be proactive about my family health history.
Early on, I also switched over to all of the Shaklee personal care products – Meadow Blend soap-free bar, Meadow Blend Liquid cleanser, Proteinized Shampoo. What a relief for my skin! I could wash my hands and not be in pain! Plus, I can use the Meadow Blend products to shave my legs as well without breaking out. Now that the Enfuselle Moisturizing Shower gel and Hand and Body Lotion has come out, I use those products as well. The Hand and Body Lotion is ONE of TWO lotions I can put on my legs after shaving and it DOESN’T IRRITATE MY LEGS!
I hope this is helpful!
No more itching,
Becky Choate
